This weekend I’m headed to New York City. It’s been over ten years since I’ve been to the city that never sleeps. My first trip to NYC was in March 2006 with my ex. We spent the days wandering around the city, doing the usual tourist things – Empire State Building, Brooklyn Bridge – and popping into coffee shops to warm up whenever we got too cold.

This trip was conceived when I got invited to do a poetry reading at Unnameable Books in Brooklyn. I’ll be reading with other Bottlecap Press poets and I’m really looking forward to it. If you’re in Brooklyn this Sunday afternoon, come have a listen. (Details below)

This trip we don’t have much planned. I want to go to the Twin Towers Memorial, because I haven’t seen it yet. We’ve got tickets to see Book of Mormon, which I’m really excited about. Otherwise, we plan to wander the city. I might pop into the New York Public Library and The Strand Bookstore – because BOOKS!!! – , but other than the musical Saturday night and my poetry reading on Sunday afternoon, there are no set plans. If you had a weekend in New York City, what would you do?
