There’s been so much goodness in the poetry world lately. Last week, my good friend Barb had two poems published, one by Glass Poetry Journal, the other by Jarfly. The same day my friend Shuly had a poem published, also in Glass Poetry Journal. My poem, We’re Told to Smile, was published by Rogue Agent. I wrote three poems, including one that begins by talking about my ex’s balls. Yes, you read that correctly, his balls. I really cannot wait for my MFA group to get that one in workshop! When I got home my copy of District Lines was waiting for me – and let’s be honest, any time a poetry journal publishes a poem with the phrase “we eye-fucked each other” it’s a damn good day!

My poem!

I poured myself a glass of wine and celebrated all the amazing poetry things that happened that day.

The next day it continued when Jarfly, the journal my friend Barb was published in, requested poems from me. I sent them in and almost immediately I got an email stating they’d accepted two poems for publication. That day in the mail, my copy of Hypertrophic Press arrived and it is gorgeous beyond words. I think I’ve found the artist to design my next book cover…

Then the 50-60 mph winds hit and our power was knocked out for a day and a half. Which meant curling up in front of my fireplace with my dog and a book. Even without power, it was a pretty good day.

Fire + my dog + a book = happiness
